Philaye Films’ "Jamaal" Sci-Fi Film Releasing on Here TV November 8th!
Philaye Films' Award-Winning Sci-Fi Short Film "Jamaal" is set to release on Here TV, available through their app as well as over a dozen cable providers including Hulu, Prime Video, YouTube TV, Xfinity, and more! Releasing on November 8th, "Jamaal" is about a friendly AI Android robot who is brought into a couple's home.
“Jamaal”, written by Philip Johnson and directed by Philip and Taariq Muhammad, is starring Matthew Jennings, Philip Johnson, Jaquan Solomon, and Arabia Little. The film premiered at the AI International Film Festival in July of 2024, winning the festival’s awards for Best Director and Best Actor for Matthew Jennings’ stunning performance as Jamaal.
Executive Producer Philip Johnson worked with producers Sophia McPherson, Taariq Muhammad and Kevin Moore to create this suspenseful, yet comedic, Black Sci-Fi film. Inspired by the increase in AI in the Sci-Fi movie genre, “Jamaal” brings an intriguing Android twist to a Black, gay love story. It feels like a Black Mirror episode that you didn’t know you needed!
Our team is excited to share this fun film with the world, and we’re honored to join the Here TV family! Download Here TV’s streaming app or check their channel out on your favorite cable provider’s app, and follow @Jamaalthefilm, @HereTV & @PhilayeFilms on Instagram for updates on “Jamaal”!
Looking towards the future, Philaye Films plans to focus on utilizing the experience of producing festival-winning short films to move on to producing hit series and feature films in the coming years. Stay tuned!
